Man found dead near Pahrump homeless camp
A 67-year-old man was found dead at a homeless camp in Pahrump on Friday night, the Nye County Sheriff’s Office said.
The sheriff’s office received a call that a man was found in the desert near the homeless camp located just east of Crawford Way and Highway 160 in Pahrump at 5:45 p.m.
Detectives found the body of Gilbert Avelar and are still investigating the cause and circumstances of his death, police said. Avelar’s death is not believed to be suspicious.
