Fatal crash under investigation in North Las Vegas

According to authorities, the crash occurred just before 7:15 a.m. on the 215 westbound at Pecos Road.

A maroon 2015 Chrysler 200 sedan was westbound on the 215 in the far right travel lane approaching Pecos at a high rate of speed. It struck the rear of a white 2015 Infiniti QX80 utility vehicle from behind.

Both the Chrysler and the Infiniti rotated clockwise and traveled in a northwest direction across the 215 westbound travel lanes and into the desert area. The Chrysler came to rest on its wheels facing west. The Infiniti overturned and ejected the unrestrained driver from the vehicle.

The driver of the Infiniti, Jose Nacario Belardo, 59, of Las Vegas, Nevada, succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash and was pronounced deceased on scene.

NHP’s Southern Command has investigated 37 fatal crashes resulting in 38 fatalities.
