Las Vegas officials asking for input on Third Street beautification

Las Vegas city officials are seeking input on how to beautify a half-mile stretch of Third Street, from Charleston Boulevard to Bonneville Avenue.

Widened sidewalks, more landscaping and public art could line the street as part of an effort to make the street more aesthetically pleasing to pedestrians and bicyclists, while also attempting to draw restaurants with patio seating and other types of business, said city spokeswoman Margaret Kurtz.

A budget, funding source and construction date will be determined after the project is designed, Kurtz said. A public workshop to discuss the plan is set for 5 p.m. June 16 in the Mayor’s Gallery at the Historic Fifth Street School, 401 S. Fourth St. Options will be displayed in the school’s courtyard from 4 to 6 p.m. June 18.
