A 56-year-old Las Vegas man died Friday night after being run over in a suspected DUI crash in downtown Las Vegas, according to a Metropolitan Police Department news release.

The man, whose identity was withheld, was on foot on North First Street near East Ogden Avenue, just outside Circa, just before 10:30 p.m. on Friday when he was struck multiple times by a 2020 Cadillac Escalade being driven by Kevin Vo, 45, of Las Vegas, police said.

According to police, the vehicle Vo was driving was stopped while Vo was in an “altercation with an unknown” man. He then put the vehicle in reverse and drove “in an unsafe manner” before the SUV struck a pedestrian who was approaching the back of the Cadillac, police said.

The SUV then drove over the pedestrian twice, according to police. The pedestrian, who police said was the 56-year-old Las Vegas man, was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

On Monday, the Clark County coroner’s office identified the pedestrian as Matthew Bowens.

Vo showed signs of impairment and was arrested on DUI-related charges. According to Las Vegas Justice Court records, Vo was charged with DUI and reckless driving resulting in death.

Vo was listed as an inmate at the Clark County Detention Center on Saturday afternoon and remained there as of Monday, according to online jail records. Las Vegas Justice Court records show Vo made an initial appearance Saturday and is being held on $250,000 bail. Another hearing is scheduled for 8 a.m. Wednesday.

This death marked the 101st traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction this year and remained under investigation as of Saturday, police said.
