Las Vegas Valley to warm up Sunday

Several residents of the Las Vegas Valley reported light snowfall Saturday morning, but the National Weather Service did not measure any snowfall.

“It didn’t amount to anything,” meteorologist Jim Harrison said.

The valley may see intermittent showers through the next few days, Harrison said.

Sunday’s high should reach 62 degrees with partly cloudy skies but no chance for rain.

Monday’s forecast high is also 62 degrees. The weather service forecasts a 60 percent chance of rain, and that same storm system could cause severe flooding in Reno and California if rain at higher elevations is warm enough to melt snow.

The weather service has issued a flood watch in Reno beginning late Saturday night through Monday afternoon.

Although the valley should see showers on-and-off for the rest of next week, the valley can expect a lower chance of rain after Tuesday, the weather service said.
