BOYS CROSS COUNTRY: Nathan Cromwell leads Coronado to victory

Nathan Cromwell finished first in a 2.8-mile race at Sonata Park on Tuesday to lead Coronado’s boys cross country team to victory in a five-team meet.

Cromwell finished in 16 minutes, 10.4 seconds to lead the Cougars, who had five of the top seven finishers and had 22 points.

Liberty (42) was second, followed by Green Valley (69), Rancho (102) and Eldorado (129).

Liberty’s Eduardo Soto finished second in 16:13.9, and Coronado’s Bryce Tondryk was third in 16:25.5.

Desert Oasis wins meet

At Sierra Vista, Desert Oasis had six of the top seven finishers to win a four-team meet.

Shadow Ridge’s Dane Cobb won the 2.6-mile race in 15:03, but the next six finishers belonged to the Diamondbacks, who ran in a tight pack with times between 15:04 and 15:11.

Conner Nicolas was second in 15:04, and teammate Ricardo Haro was third in 15:07 for Desert Oasis, which had 20 points. Shadow Ridge was second with 40 points, followed by Sierra Vista (69) and Cimarron-Memorial (120).

Clark wins five-team meet

At Spring Valley, the Chargers had three of the top four runners to win a five-team meet.

Clark’s Brendan Palmer won the 3.1-mile race in 17:13.39 and was followed by teammate Liam Jones (17:14.33). Trevor Pearl was fourth in 17:47.99 for the Chargers, who finished with 25 points.

Bishop Gorman was second with 64 points, followed by Arbor View (87), Bonanza (94) and Spring Valley (95).

Bonanza’s Brandon Adams was third in 17:14.52, and Spring Valley’s Spencer Thomas (18:31.30) rounded out the top five.

Pahrump Valley takes five-team meet

At Cheyenne, Bryce Odegard won a 3.1-mile race in 17:06 to lead Pahrump Valley to victory in a five-team meet.

The Trojans finished with 29 points to top Cheyenne (44), Desert Pines (72) and Adelson School (98). Sunrise Mountain did not have a complete team.

Desert Pines’ Jovan Ibarra was second in 18:08, and Cheyenne’s Ryan Banegas finished third in 18:32.
