Velarde, Saints rally to defeat West Wendover
Mountain View’s Raymond Velarde completed 12 of 15 passes for 223 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Saints (2-5, 2-2 2A Southern League) back from a 14-6 deficit to defeat host West Wendover 44-14 on Friday night.
Velarde threw touchdown passes of 71 and 45 yards to Cortland LeBoeuf, and connected with Tanner Peterson on scoring strikes of 2 and 29 yards. Velarde also intercepted a pair of West Wendover (0-6, 0-4) passes.
LeBoeuf returned the opening kickoff 81 yards to give the Saints a 6-0 lead, but West Wendover scored the next 14 points.
Alex Watson rushed 22 times for 156 yards and a score for Mountain View.
