BASEBALL: Pastrone’s hit gives Aggies win over Patriots

Sam Pastrone’s bases-loaded single with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning Saturday lifted host Arbor View’s baseball team to an 8-7 win over Liberty.

Quinn Gallagher led off the bottom of the seventh with a single and stole second. With one out, Justin Rivera walked, and R.J. Rodriguez followed with a single to load the bases for Pastrone, who singled up the middle.

Rodriguez was 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs for the Aggies, who trailed 5-0 before scoring twice in the second inning and five times in the third.

Wyatte Velasco was 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs, and Rivera went 2-for-2 with an RBI for Arbor View. Gallagher was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI, and Pastrone was 2-for-5.

Nick Rush hit a two-run home run for the Patriots, who scored twice in the top of the seventh to tie the game.

Faith Lutheran 7, Foothill 2 — At Foothill, winning pitcher Brandon Davis tossed five scoreless innings and struck out five to help the Crusaders top the Falcons.

Cruz Daddario was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs for Faith Lutheran. Zach Trageton went 3-for-4 with a double, and Jake Koentopp was 2-for-3 with a double for the Crusaders.

St. Francis (Calif.) 7, Bishop Gorman 4 — At Gorman, Peter Balestri had two hits and two RBIs, and the Sharks did all of their scoring in the first three innings en route to a win over the Gaels in the Desert Classic.

Matt Hudgins had two hits, including a two-run home run, and three RBIs for Gorman.
