Findlay Prep’s Markus Howard hits five 3-pointers to lead USA over Egypt

Findlay Prep’s Markus Howard hit five 3-pointers and scored a game-high 19 points as the USA topped Egypt 104-57 in pool play of the FIBA World Championships in Zaragoza, Spain.

Howard shot 7-for-13, including 5-for-9 on 3-pointers. He also had six assists and four rebounds.

Centennial’s Troy Brown added 15 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and four steals for the USA. He finished 6-for-13 from the field.

Seven players finished in double-figures for the USA, which led 52-31 at halftime.

The USA shot 52.4 percent from the field, while Egypt shot only 28.2 percent.

The USA will face Argentina in the knockout round on June 28. A time has yet to be determined.
