Big plays boost Valley in 42-6 win over Rancho

Valley’s football team scored three touchdowns longer than 40 yards at home Friday and held Rancho to 112 yards of total offense in an overpowering 42-6 victory.

Seth Jarrett intercepted the first pass from Rancho and returned it 45 yards for a touchdown to seize an early 7-0 lead. Running back Bryce Jones broke loose and scored on 43-yard touchdown run on Valley’s next possession to give the Vikings (3-4, 2-1 Northeast League) a 14-0 advantage after one quarter. Trayvon Mack-Escoto then returned a Rancho punt 90 yards for a score early in the second quarter.

The Rams (0-7, 0-2 Northeast League) answered the punt return with their lone touchdown, a 22-yard touchdown run by Jeremiah Bell.

Jeffery Maestas led the Vikings with 100 yards rushing and scored the game’s final touchdown on a 3-yard run. Valley’s Endy Diaz had a 22-yard TD pass to Deshan Sells and a 14-yard scoring pass to Leeland Crawford.
