Big second half gives Mojave win over Western

Mojave’s football team got off to a slow start Friday night. It didn’t last long.

The Rattlers scored 36 second-half points to roll to a 42-0 road win at Western.

Taiwan Braden started the scoring for Mojave (6-3, 5-2 Sunset League) with the first of his three rushing touchdowns on a 1-yard run with 7:39 left in the first quarter

Western (0-9, 0-7) contained the Rattlers’ offense for the rest of the first half.

Braden found the end zone twice in the second half on scampers of 7 yards and and 3 yards. Khalid Walker led the rushing attack with 135 yards on 16 carries.With 5:40 left in the game Mojave defensive lineman Tui Vergara joined the scoring action after he returned a fumble 44 yards for a touchdown.

The Warriors were never able to find a rhythm and totaled only 137 yards on offense. Gregory Castenada completed 13 of 33 passes for 93 yards.
