Hubert scores four TDs as Pirates top Miners
R.J. Hubert was a one-man show for Moapa Valley on Friday, totaling four touchdowns as the Pirates rolled to a 56-13 road win over Sunrise Mountain.
Hubert’s first touchdown came as a 54-yard catch-and-run from Nate Cox midway through first quarter. His second came two minutes into the second as he found a hole up the middle from 13 yards out.
Starting the second half, Jacob Leavitt received the kickoff then handed off to Hubert who ran it back 85 yards to make the score 35-6. Hubert finished his night with a 14-yard run three minutes into the final quarter.
Trystin Deal issued the back-breaker with 2:22 remaining in the first half scored on a 94 yard run on the first play of the drive, making it 28-0. Deal finished with 130 yards on 12 carries. Sterling Simmons added 112 yards with a touchdown on 13 carries for Moapa Valley (2-2, 1-1 Sunrise League).
Claude Moore led Sunrise Mountain (2-2, 0-2) with 53 yards on 21 carries.
