Coronado’s Estrada ties for third in Antigua National golf tourney
Coronado freshman Victoria Estrada shot a 2-under-par 70 Saturday to finish in a third-place tie overall in the Antigua National High School Invitational at McCormick Ranch Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Estrada finished the 36-hole event at 1-over 145.
Aiko Leong of Punahou (Hawaii) won the individual title with a 6-under 138. Kelly Su of Chaparral (Ariz.) was second at 142, followed by Hannah Li of Hamilton (Ariz.) and Estrada.
Estrada’s effort helped the Cougars finish fourth in the 18-team event with a team score of 626 for two rounds.
Xavier (Ariz.), which shot a sparkling 295 as a team Saturday, was first at 601. Punahou took second at 608. Archbishop McCarthy (Fla.) was third with a 618, eight shots better than Coronado. Torrey Pines (Calif.) was fifth at 641.
Faith Lutheran took sixth at 647, and Bishop Gorman was 10th at 664.
Coronado’s Heidi Moser added a 78, and Sami Penor shot 80 for the Cougars.
Sydney Smith led the Crusaders on Saturday with a 77, and teammate Morgan Goldstein shot 79.
Hunter Pate, who shot an even-par 72 on Friday, and teammate Rose Baral each shot 80 to lead Gorman.
