ROUNDUP: Anderson double caps Gators’ late rally over Mustangs
Chelsea Anderson hit a two-run double in the bottom of the seventh inning Friday to lift Green Valley’s softball team to a 5-4 win over visiting Shadow Ridge.
Shelby Vickers went 2-for-4 with a triple for Green Valley, which scored all five of its runs in the final three innings. Teammate Marissa Iwanylo was 2-for-3.
Danielle Buecker was 2-for-2 with two runs for Shadow Ridge, which jumped to a 3-0 lead in the fifth inning.
Legacy 14, Valley 2 — At Valley, Alexis Fuller went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and the Longhorns took advantage of seven errors to rout the host Vikings.
Sierra Pico tossed a two-hitter to earn the win for Legacy.
Jasmine Villamar doubled for Valley.
Arbor View 11, Basic 4 — At Basic, Ashlynn Ames was 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs as the Aggies downed the Wolves.
Marlene Panduro went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Dacia Sykes was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Arbor View.
Brandy Huff was 2-for-3 to lead Basic.
Cheyenne 13, Canyon Springs 3 — At Canyon Springs, Melanie Manley homered, and Lindsey Galindo tossed a five-hitter as the Desert Shields downed the Pioneers in five innings.
Galindo added two hits for the Desert Shields.
Rancho 10, Spring Valley 6 — At Rancho, Amber Marlett’s three-run double keyed a four-run fifth inning as the Rams dispatched the Grizzlies.
Jamel Rayos went 3-for-4 for Rancho, which overcame nine errors.
Nicole Matyskiel was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Spring Valley.
Coronado 7, Clark 5 — At Clark, Morgan Yuhas went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs to help the Cougars beat the Chargers.
Katie Cochran was 2-for-3 with a triple for Coronado.
Foothill 12, Desert Oasis 7 — At Desert Oasis, the Falcons used a six-run fourth inning to take control.
Raeann Brems went 2-for-4 with two runs to lead Foothill.
Desert Oasis’ Lenzi Cram was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and freshman Samantha Caruso went 1-for-2 with an RBI for the Diamondbacks.
Calvary Chapel 10-8, Laughlin 0-5 — At Calvary Chapel, Jamie Schmidt threw a one-hitter in the opener to help the Lions to the sweep.
Schmidt struck out nine and walked non in the five-inning victory.
Schmidt, Sammi Mann and Kristen Ulrich each went 2-for-4 in the second game to lead Calvary Chapel.
Faith Lutheran 11, Arizona Lutheran 3 — At Faith Lutheran, Maya Barnes was 2-for-2 with two doubles, three stolen bases and two RBIs to lead the Crusaders to the win in the Bishop Gorman Tournament.
Ashley Gord was 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs for Faith Lutheran, which scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth to pull away.
Faith Lutheran 11, Campbell Hall (Calif.) 8 — At Faith Lutheran, Barnes went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple and three runs scored to lead the Crusaders.
Bri Yee was 2-for-3 with three runs for Faith Lutheran, which scored six times in the top of the fifth to take an 11-4 lead.
Bishop Gorman 7, Campbell Hall (Calif.) 2 — At Gorman, Shelby Estocado homered and the Gaels used five runs in the top of the third to pull away in four innings in the Bishop Gorman Tournament.
Alexandria Gordon went 3-for-3 for Gorman, and teammate Dayton Yingling tossed a three-hitter with four strikeouts.
Bishop Gorman 7, Centennial (Ore.) 3 — At Gorman, Gordon went 3-for-3 with a double, two runs scored, two stolen bases and an RBI to help lead the Gaels past Centennial.
Yingling doubled and earned the win for Gorman.
Bishop Gorman 6, Arizona Lutheran 6 — At Gorman, Yingling had a triple, and Miranda Robles doubled to help the Gaels to a tie.
Mountain View 11, Virginia City 1 — At Mountain View, Alley Cintron tripled and doubled, and the Saints scored six runs in the first inning on their way to an easy win in the Spring Slam.
Lincoln County JV 10, Mountain View 0 — At Mountain View, the Saints managed just five hits in a four-inning loss to Lincoln County’s junior varsity in the Spring Slam.
Lake Mead 6, Carlin 1 — At Mountain View, Lynzee Freund tossed a five-inning eight-hitter with seven strikeouts to help the Eagles to a win in the Spring Slam.
Victory Valley Christian (Calif.) 6, Lake Mead 1 — At Mountain View, the Eagles were held to just three hits in a loss in the Spring Slam.
Victor Valley Christian (Calif.) 15, The Meadows 1 — At Mountain View, Victor Valley Christian scored 14 first-inning runs and cruised past the Mustangs in the Spring Slam.
Tonopah 16-7, Pahranagat Valley 6-9 — At Tonopah, the Panthers rebounded from committing nine errors in the first game to win the nightcap and split a doubleheader.
Tami Spencer went a combined 4-for-6 in the two games for Pahranagat Valley.
Britney Klapper was a combined 4-for-6 for Tonopah.
