SOFTBALL: Late hit lifts Basic over Green Valley
Lexie Edmunds singled home Lauren Koshak from third with the game-winning run in the sixth inning Wednesday as Basic’s softball team rallied to edge visiting Green Valley, 7-6.
Edmunds finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Sanoe Helenihi went 2-for-3 and had the game-tying home run in the sixth inning. Helenihi also hit a double.
Alexa Blazek went 4-for-4 with a home run, double and two RBIs, and Genie Simington supplied a double and two RBIs for Green Valley, which came back from a 5-3 deficit to take a 6-5 lead in the sixth.
Winning pitcher Shelby Basso struck out nine for Basic.
Durango 9, Bonanza 2 — At Durango, Avahly Geraldo homered, and Trinity Valentine went 3-for-4 with an RBI to help the Trailblazers top the Bengals.
Isabel Perez supplied two hits, and Keely Thompson hit a double for Durango, which led 5-0 after two innings.
Brianna Hernandez-Silva and Evalynn Sandoval each hit a double for Bonanza.
Pahranagat Valley 16, Canyon Springs 4 — At Canyon Springs, Madison Harris and Morgan Harris each finished 4-for-5 with three runs as the Panthers routed the Pioneers in five innings.
Ashlyn Wadsworth went 3-for-5 for Pahranagat Valley, which scored nine runs in the second inning to take control.
Anaya Youngblood led Canyon Springs with two hits, including a two-run home run, in the fifth inning.
Pahrump Valley 15, Cheyenne 0 — At Pahrump, Jordan Egan went 3-for-3 with two doubles and five RBIs in the Trojans’ four-inning win over the Desert Shields.
Pahrump exploded for 10 runs in the bottom of the fourth to end the game.
Desert Oasis 21, Spring Valley 5 — At Spring Valley, Holly Severance, Jalyn Chao and Izriah Hodson each supplied three hits as the Diamondbacks routed the Grizzlies in five innings.
Meagan Anders went 4-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs for Desert Oasis, which got two hits from Elsy Guzman.
Talya Ushakoff had an inside-the-park grand slam and an RBI single to lead Spring Valley.
Western 18, Sunrise Mountain 4 — At Sunrise Mountain, Makalita Moeaki had three triples as the Warriors routed the Miners in five innings.
Ashley Rodriguez had three hits, including a home run, for Western, and Adrianna Muse had three hits.
Mojave 20, Desert Pines 5 — At Desert Pines, the Rattlers routed the Jaguars.
