GIRLS TENNIS: Panthers dominate Centennial, move to Sunset final

Playing without two of its usual starters Thursday, Palo Verde’s girls tennis team still put on a dominating display.

The Panthers dropped only three games en route to an 18-0 win over visiting Centennial (7-4) in a Sunset Region semifinal.

Palo Verde (11-0) will meet Bishop Gorman (10-2) for the region title at 3 p.m. Friday at Darling Tennis Center.

Chloe Henderson, Kristen Newell and Isabella Shelton each went 2-0 in singles, and the doubles teams of Abby Lewis and Alissa Till, Shelby Graber and Kaya Richardson, and Caroline Ramous and Brooklyn Harris each went 2-0 for the Panthers, who were without starters Annie Walker (illness) and Sophie Henderson (out of town).

Bishop Gorman 15, Bonanza 3 — At Bonanza, Sadie Klassen and Uche Nwokike were 3-0 in doubles as the Gaels downed the Bengals (10-3).

Amber Del Rosario and Angelique Friedrich each went 2-0 in singles for Gorman.

SUNRISE REGION

Green Valley 12, Silverado 6 — At Green Valley, Olivia Nhaisi and Megan Madrid went 3-0 in doubles as the Gators downed the Skyhawks in a Sunrise Region semifinal.

Daria Shalina and Racquel Holder each went 2-1 in singles for Green Valley (12-0), which will face Liberty (10-1) in the region final at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Darling Tennis Center.

Tiffany Theophil was 3-0 in singles for Silverado (7-4).

Liberty 11, Coronado 7 — At Liberty, the Patriots earned a spot in the region final by knocking off the Cougars.

Hannah Grossman was 3-0 in singles for Coronado (9-3).

I-A SOUTHERN REGION

Faith Lutheran 13, Moapa Valley 5 — At Overton, Madison Foley was 2-0 in singles to guide the Crusaders by the Pirates in a Division I-A Southern Region semifinal.

The doubles teams of Jayden Mattson and Michelle Reiss, and Carolyn DiPasquale and Dina Ciulla each went 2-0 for Faith Lutheran (13-2), which will face The Meadows (10-1) in the region final at 8 a.m. Friday at Darling Tennis Center.

Gijzen Bodjel and Lisa Bruckmann each finished 2-1 in singles for Moapa Valley (9-2).

The Meadows 14, Clark 4 — At The Meadows, Anuja Daulat was 3-0 in singles as the Mustangs topped the Chargers (9-3).

Sonia Vohra and Sophie Isaacs were 3-0 in doubles for The Meadows.
