Arizona man gets 18 years in teen’s slaying

KINGMAN, Ariz. — A Kingman man who pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the robbery-related murder of a teenager was given an 18-year prison term on Friday.

Mohave County Superior Court Judge Bob Moon imposed the maximum punishment possible under terms of a plea agreement for Mike Withers, 33.

Withers admits he delivered Christopher Marcus, 18, Kingman, knowing that three co-defendants planned to rob him in August, 2005. Marcus was murdered and robbed of at least $6,000 he had been paid through an insurance settlement.

Three others convicted in the case have been sent to prison to serve sentences ranging from six years to life.
