Ballet season includes revival, company premieres

Nevada Ballet Theatre’s 2009-2010 season will include a revival of George Balanchine’s famous “Rubies” and two company premieres by James Canfield including “Coco,” homage to the life of Coco Chanel and set to the music of French singer Edith Piaf, and “Jungle,” showcasing bold and energetic choreography set to the music of Future Sound of London.

In addition, the new season will include three world premieres: “Song of the Nightingale” by Gail Gilbert of Cirque du Soleil’s “Ka,” a new work by New York-based choreographer Thaddeus Davis and “Cyclical Night” by choreographer James Canfield, his first original work for Nevada Ballet Theatre that is loosely inspired by the tango and set to the music of Astor Piazzolla.
