Clark County defendant who punched man who later died pleads guilty to first-degree murder

Rodney Marshall made his money by punching people in the head and then taking their cash.

In April 2009, he killed a 78-year-old man while plying his trade.

Last week, Marshall, now 53, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder for the death of Ronald North, who Marshall had stopped to talk with on Tropicana Avenue, near Swenson Street, before decking him.

As part of the deal, Clark County prosecutors will not seek the death penalty against Marshall, who is serving a life prison sentence for multiple robbery convictions.

On the murder count, Marshall faces a prison term of 20 years to life in prison after the life sentence he is serving.

A sentencing was set for April 3 before District Judge Michelle Leavitt.
