Country’s first couple may be Las Vegas headliners

If you’re a fan of Faith Hill’s 1995 hit "Let’s Go to Vegas," there’s a solid chance you’ll be hearing it this winter.

Hill and husband Tim McGraw, country music’s first couple, are reportedly headed here, adding their star power to a recent trend of country superstars as resident headliners on the Strip.

They would join Garth Brooks, who was coaxed out of retirement by Steve Wynn three years ago, and Shania Twain, who will soon be sharing The Colosseum at Caesars Palace with Celine Dion, Elton John and others.

With Brooks continuing to pack his 1,500-seat showroom after 2½ years, he’s indicated an interest in staying around beyond his five-year deal.

Hill has five Grammys, two of them via duets with McGraw, who has three Grammys and 21 No. 1 singles on Billboard’s Hot Country Song chart.

Their joint Soul2Soul concert tour became the highest-grossing country tour of all time.

McGraw, the son of the late Tug McGraw – one of baseball’s best relief pitchers during his era – had 11 consecutive albums debut at No. 1 on Billboard albums charts.

They got married Oct. 6, 1996, after falling in love after he joined Hill on her Spontaneous Combustion Tour.

Lark Williams, who survived a close call in the 1980 MGM Grand fire and went on to a long career as a radio deejay, returned to the airwaves over the weekend. She is hosting the 10 p.m. to midnight Saturday time slot on KOMP-FM, 92.3.

Wayne Allyn Root, the Las Vegas sports handicapper-turned-politician, is putting together a reality show titled "Bad Boys of Vegas." He’s teaming up again with New York TV producer Michael Yudin. They came up with "King of Vegas," co-hosted by Root and Max Kellerman on Spike TV in 2006. Root said the search has already begun for "guy’s guys … real men with exciting and unusual jobs."

Las Vegas star chef Julian Serrano, greeting Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas minutes before the Real Madrid-Santos Laguna exhibition at Sam Boyd Stadium. Madrid native Serrano, who wore a Real Madrid jersey, was a teen standout before a heart condition ended his dreams. Casillas dined at Serrano’s Picasso restaurant two weeks after Spain won the World Cup two years ago. … At the same table for Clint Holmes’ show Sunday at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts : Bally’s headliner Taylor Hicks, Season 5 winner of "American Idol," Pia Zadora and former Broadway star Reva Rice, a featured performer in "Vegas! The Show." … Italian fashion icon Domenico Dolce of Dolce & Gabbana couldn’t get enough of Cirque du Soleil. Accompanied by his partner, he saw five Cirque shows in three days: "KÀ," "O," "Viva Elvis," "Zumanity" and "Mystere" between Thursday and Saturday. … Rapper 50 Cent, in town for boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s release from jail, dining at Trattoria del Lupo (Mandalay Bay) on Saturday. … "True Blood" star Janina Gavankar, at "Absinthe" (Caesars Palace) on Friday. … Greg Mathis of NBC’s long-running "Judge Mathis" reality show, with his wife and friends at the Bellagio Cafe early Sunday.
