Doctor sentenced in Botox fraud case
A Las Vegas doctor convicted of injecting patients with a non-government approved substance similar to Botox was sentenced late Friday to 46 months in prison, far shorter than the 87 months sought by federal prosecutors.
Dr. Stephen Seldon’s attorney appealed the conviction and the subsequent sentence on Saturday.
Seldon and his wife, Debbie Seldon, were accused of advertising Botox treatment but then injecting patients with TRItox, a substance that has not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration. The couple made about $144,000 by selling the cheaper substance rather than Botox, according to government officials.
Debbie Seldon was sentenced to 30 months in prison.
