Dog dies in kitchen fire

A dog died in a kitchen fire in the east valley that also caused $20,000 in damage on Saturday.

The Clark County Fire Department responded to reports of heavy smoke in a single-family home in the 1500 block of Lady Bryan Lane, near the intersection of East Owens Avenue and North Sloan Lane, about 6:30 p.m.

Six fire engine crews, a ladder truck, a rescue unit and multiple fire chiefs and investigators attacked the blaze.

While performing a primary life search, firefighters found two dogs in the smoldering home. One of them was already dead, and the other received treatment from firefighters.

The surviving dog seemed normal when the owners arrived home.

No humans were injured in the fire. The cause of the fire was still being investigated.
