Driver killed in U.S. 95-Decatur crash identified
A driver killed Sunday morning in a two-vehicle collision at U.S. Highway 95 and Decatur Boulevard has been identified as Donnie Myron Jones, 24, from Cortez, Colo.
Nevada Highway Patrol trooper Jeremie Elliott said Tuesday the collision occurred about 6:30 a.m.
Elliott said a Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling north on Decatur while a Pontiac Sunfire was traveling west on the U.S. 95 offramp. The two vehicles collided in the intersection. The front of the Tahoe struck the driver’s side of the Sunfire.
Jones, who was driving the Sunfire, died at the scene, and a passenger in his vehicle suffered critical injuries. The driver of the Tahoe suffered minor to moderate injuries.
Alcohol may have played a factor in the collision, according to the Highway Patrol.
