Ex-UNR pharmacy chief fined for credit card misuse
RENO — The former pharmacy director at the University of Nevada, Reno was ordered to pay $4,000 in restitution and $1,132 in fines for misusing a state credit card.
John Quincy Adams of Pleasant Valley south of Reno pleaded guilty to misdemeanor theft on Wednesday in Reno Justice Court.
UNR spokeswoman Jane Tors said Adams’ employment with the university ended last June and she could not comment if he resigned or was fired. He was hired at the university in June 1992.
Adams in October was charged with felony theft and misconduct of a public officer.
According to the criminal complaint, Adams in 2004 was a pharmacist employed by the state through its Nevada Family Practice Residency Program. He was issued a credit card by the program for business use.
Adams was accused of using the credit card to purchase a computer, a computer printer, a cell phone for his wife and monthly usage fees, a two-day admission ticket to Disney World, admission to the Guggenheim Hermitage Museum in Las Vegas and his campus parking permit.
Officials were alerted to the misuse after a university audit.
