Feral cat project aims to cut euthanizations
An animal services official in Carson City says a program to trap, neuter and release feral cats aims to cut the number of cats that are euthanized.
Animal Control Supervisor Pat Wiggins says 15 cats have been neutered, given ear tags and released since the project began in June.
The program is being paid for with grants and money from the Carson Tahoe Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Wiggins says 250 feral or injured cats were euthanized in the city last year. She says feral cats can’t be tamed, and fertile feral cats can disrupt neighborhoods.
