Heat record set in Las Vegas
It was a weekend of record high temperatures for Las Vegas.
Sunday’s high of 98 broke April 29’s record of 96 set in 1981, and Saturday’s high of 97 broke the April 28 record of 95 set in 1992, said Clay Morgan, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Las Vegas.
“We just had a big ridge of high pressure and the sun angle was right to really heat us up,” he said.
He didn’t expect today to be a record-breaker, however.
The record for April 30 is 99, and “there’s no reason to think” today’s high will be warmer than Sunday’s, Morgan said.
