Hilton kept from entering Japan after drug sentence

NARITA, Japan — Paris Hilton has been denied entrance into Japan and is returning home to the United States.

An immigration official said today that Hilton was not allowed into the country.

“I’m going back home, and I look forward to coming back to Japan in the future,” a smiling Hilton said at Tokyo’s airport.

Hilton, 29, on Monday pleaded guilty in Las Vegas to a misdemeanor drug charge and obstructing an officer and was placed on probation for one year.

Japanese law forbids entrance to people with convictions for violating drug laws although some individuals have been allowed in under exceptions.

Hilton had been scheduled to promote her fashion and fragrance lines at a news conference today in Tokyo.

The Asia trip had been planned before Hilton’s arrest last month, when a Las Vegas police officer on the Strip found a small amount of cocaine in her purse.

The terms of her sentence in Clark County did not restrict travel overseas.
