Inmate found slain at North Las Vegas jail
One inmate at the North Las Vegas Detention Center is dead and another is in police custody following an early morning incident in their shared jail cell, North Las Vegas police said.
Officers found the body of a 31-year-old male inmate around 2:30 a.m. today after he was not accounted for during routine cell checks. He was found under the mattress in his cell bleeding from the face and not breathing.
The victim, who police did not identify, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Armando Munoz-Ornelas, 25, who was sharing the cell with the victim, was booked on one count of murder, police said.
Motive and cause of death were not immediately known.
