Judge sets $500,000 bail for jailed Las Vegas doctor

A judge set bail at $500,000 and ordered a Las Vegas doctor to surrender his passports following his arrest on allegations he improperly prescribed painkillers to undercover police officers in northeast Arizona.

A court spokesman said Thursday that Clark County District Court Judge Douglas Smith decided Dr. Albert Szu Sun Yeh won’t be immediately transferred in custody to Phoenix. Smith instead set a status hearing July 28.

Yeh remained Thursday at the Clark County jail in Las Vegas following his arrest earlier this month on a warrant issued in Arizona on charges of conspiracy, assisting a criminal syndicate, money laundering and administering a narcotic drug.

Yeh is accused of prescribing drugs including Oxycodone and Hydrocodone to undercover officers at his part-time clinic in Golden Valley, Ariz.
