Man shot to death; police say suspect in custody
A man was fatally shot Saturday afternoon near Maryland Parkway and Desert Inn Road in what police suspect might have been a drug deal gone bad, Las Vegas police officials said.
Homicide Lt. Lew Roberts said the shooting occurred about 5:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of Sierra Vista Drive. The victim died shortly after at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center. The name of the victim was not released by police.
Roberts said he was shot while riding away on a bicycle. He said a suspect has been in police custody since Friday night.
Lt. Steve Herpolsheimer said the shooting was preceded by an argument at an apartment in which the shooting victim argued with a few other males. He said the man was shot twice. The man who died appeared to be in his 20s, Herpolsheimer said.
