Man wanted in connection with California homicide arrested in Arizona

KINGMAN, Ariz. — A man wanted in connection with an April 16 homicide in northern California was arrested Monday in Lake Havasu City, Ariz.

Benjamin Jasper Carter, 33, was booked into the Mohave County jail in Kingman pending extradition, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Carter had been wanted in connection to the death of Zachery Jacob Chapman, 36, near the southern Humboldt County community of Garberville. The Marshals Service said Chapman was trying to visit an ex-girlfriend and reclaim a firearm when he died of a shotgun blast fired by Carter at close range.
