Murphy loses round in high court

CARSON CITY — Sandy Murphy, convicted but later acquitted in the drug overdose death of Las Vegas casino executive Ted Binion, has lost a round in the Nevada Supreme Court to collect on part of his estate.

The court said matters involving Murphy’s claims in Clark County District Court must be resolved first.

Binion died in September 1998. Murphy and Rick Tabish were convicted of murder in May 2000. They were acquitted in a second trial and found guilty of grand larceny involving Binion’s $8 million silver and coin collection.

Murphy got out of prison in April 2005. Tabish is still behind bars.
