Nevada hospital going green

LOVELOCK — A rural Northern Nevada hospital is going green, thanks to help from volunteers with the annual Burning Man event and Sierra Pacific Power Co.

Black Rock Solar, a nonprofit arm of Black Rock City LLC that organizes the annual counterculture festival, is installing photovoltaic solar panels at Pershing General Hospital in Lovelock.

The panels will generate 60,000 kilowatt hours of electricity a year and save the hospital thousands of dollars in energy costs.

Sierra Pacific Power also is providing a $150,000 rebate, which essentially covers the cost of installation.
