Nevada man injured in Idaho jump
TWIN FALLS, Idaho — Police say a Nevada man broke his ankle after his equipment malfunctioned during a parachute jump from a Snake River canyon bridge in Idaho.
Peter Garcia of Wells had a hard landing on Saturday after one line of his parachute twisted when he jumped off Perrine Bridge 480 feet above the river.
Jerome County Sheriff’s Deputy Matthew West said that Garcia landed on rocks on the north side of the river and was taken by boat to Centennial Park and then the hospital.
Garcia was listed in good condition on Sunday evening.
At more than 5,000 jumps annually, the bridge is one of the world’s most-frequented BASE jump sites. The acronym refers to buildings, antennae, spans and earth.
