North Las Vegas hires new leisure services director
Former Henderson Parks and Recreation Director Mary Ellen Donner has been named neighborhood and leisure services director for the city of North Las Vegas.
Donner, a former assistant director of the Collier County Parks and Recreation Department in Naples, Fla., spent seven years at the head of Henderson’s parks division before her position was eliminated in a January merger with the city’s public works department.
She replaces longtime parks chief Mike Henley, who was laid off alongside four other North Las Vegas department heads in February.
Donner plans to complete the move to a new City Hall by April 15.
“We are very excited to have Ms. Donner join the CNLV executive team,” City Manager Jeff Buchanan said in a statement Thursday. “Her previous experience and expertise will be a tremendous asset to us, and (we) believe she will enable the City to move in a positive direction.”
Donner will be paid $125,000 a year, about $43,000 less than she made in Henderson.
Henley was paid about $136,000 to serve as city parks chief in 2012.
