Reality TV in your face this week
Las Vegas gets back in the reality show game this week. Binion’s hotel-casino, an old Vegas landmark, is the focus of TLC’s “Casino Confidential,” which airs Thursday at 8 p.m.
Also starting this week: auditions for a divorce reality show from the producers of MTV’s “Run’s House” and Style’s “Tia & Tamera.”

“Casino Confidential” will feature former Mayor Oscar Goodman’s last day in office.

Former Las Vegas talk-show host Heidi Harris is out after a year at a Los Angeles station that featured a Christian and conservative format. Replacing her at KRLA-radio, AM 870, is Elisha Krauss, a former producer for Sean Hannity. Harris was a talk-show host at KDWN-radio, AM 720, KXNT-radio, AM 840, and KTNV-TV, Channel 13. …
Local casino marketing executive Madeleine Weekley has joined Virgen Inc. as vice president of its new Miami office. She previously helmed brand marketing at Wynn Las Vegas and Encore. During her 20-year career, she worked at various Caesars Entertainment properties. …
Dawn Britt has started her marketing communications agency after a 10-year run as marketing executive at The Venetian, the Palazzo and Las Vegas Sands Corp. …
Former KNTV-TV, Channel 13, news director Craig Hume is returning to Las Vegas via Harrisburg, Pa., to join NBC affiliate KSNV-TV, Channel 3.

Las Vegas businessman and philanthropist Larry Ruvo is in Washington, D.C., today to receive the Horatio Alger Award. Ruvo, senior managing director of Southern Wine and Spirits of Nevada, is one of 11 entrepreneurial and nonprofit leaders being honored for achieving the American Dream through extraordinary accomplishments. Horatio Alger was a 19th-century author whose books about rags-to-riches stories inspired generations. Ruvo worked as a busboy at the Venetian Ristorante, which was operated for four decades by his parents, Angie and Lou Ruvo. Through years of fundraising, Larry Ruvo founded the Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, which opened in 2009.
