Report lists leading causes of death in Clark County

Accidental injury is the leading cause of death among Southern Nevadans ages 1 to 44, according to a report released on the Clark County’s Trauma System released today.

Other leading causes of deaths are suicides, homicides and traffic collisions, according to the report.

The report, released by the Southern Nevada Health District, gives a broad overview of the county’s trauma system, which is comprised of University Medical Center, Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center and St. Rose Dominican Hospital’s Siena Campus.

UMC is a level one trauma unit, Sunrise a Level II and St. Rose a Level III.

Clark County’s trauma system was established in 2005.

The trauma system report provides information about the system’s current status, its activities and successes since 2005.
