Search methods reverse conviction

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Supreme Court has reserved the conviction of a Las Vegas man sentenced to life in prison for multiple robberies, saying his girlfriend’s consent to a search of the home was not voluntary because officers had her at gunpoint moments earlier.

The ruling by a three-judge panel overturns Tracey L. Brown’s 2007 conviction on felonies involving burglary, robbery and battery on a person over 60. He was sentenced to 10 years to life in prison.

Clark County District Attorney David Roger said he will review the ruling before deciding whether to seek a full-panel rehearing or pursue a new trial.
