Storm cripples Death Valley National Park; visitors asked to stay away
A powerful thunderstorm in Death Valley National Park on Friday night has caused power and phone outages.
“Power and phones are out in Death Valley due to storm last night. Expect debris on roads. Furnace Creek Ranch is open with a generator. No fuel or restaurant at Stovepipe Wells,” according to the Death Valley National Park Facebook page.
The park later shared, “Power will be out until Sunday evening. Furnace Creek Resort and Stovepipe Wells will be closed Saturday night. CA-190 is open, but many other roads are closed. If you’re thinking of visiting the park this weekend, please reconsider.”
Due to the “big storm” last night, there is debris on road, Death Valley tweeted around 8:30 a.m. Saturday, reminding followers to “Use caution!”
