There is a dual standard for free speech in the West
The editorialists at Investor’s Business Daily also noticed the juxtaposition of the start of Geert Wilders trial for hate speech against Muslims and the Muslim terrorism threats against Europe.
They noted the dual standard of the West’s tolerance level.
“When Wilders recently tried to visit Britain, he was denied entry,” the editorial recalls. “Ahmadinejad, on the other hand, who has repeatedly called for the death of the West, just last month was let into the U.S. to attend a United Nations confab and received warm applause for his hate-filled speech in which he accused the U.S. of staging 9/11.”
Dutch filmmaker Theo Van Gogh has already been killed. Cartoonists are under death threats. These include Molly Norris from Seattle who called for “Everybody Draw Mohammed Day” and cartoonists Trey Parker and Matt Stone who face death threats for trying, but were censored by the Cartoon Network, to put Mohammed in “South Park.”
The dual standard is appallingly apparent. The silence is deafening.
