Trooper’s car hit on Old 395
RENO — For the second time this week, a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper has been hit during dangerous driving conditions in Washoe Valley.
Trooper Scott Simon said a patrol car was struck by another vehicle on Old 395 in the Franktown Road area. No one was injured, but the road was closed in both directions.
The road is used as an alternate route for big trucks and other high profile vehicles when strong winds make the U.S. 395 freeway unsafe.
On Tuesday, Trooper Chava Rothschild was in her patrol car parked in the median when a truck lost control and rammed into her in whiteout conditions.
Rothschild was treated at Carson Tahoe Hospital and released.
