Two officers shoot man who pointed gun at them

Two Las Vegas police officers shot and killed a gun-wielding man in his driveway Saturday afternoon, a Police Department spokesman said.

About 3 p.m., police responded to a domestic violence call involving a gun at 6252 Chinook Way, near Washington Avenue and Jones Boulevard.

As officers approached the home, they heard a gunshot, according to Metropolitan Police Department Capt. Randy Montandon.

When they got to the home, they saw a man in the driveway with a handgun. Officers told the man to put the gun down, but he refused, saying he “wouldn’t be taken,” Montandon said.

He began to point the gun at officers, and two officers shot him, according to Montandon.

The man, whose identity was not released, was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Police said he lived at the home.

No one else was injured in the shooting, Montandon said.
