UNLV-Central Michigan: Rebels rout Chippewas, 73-47, in final game of 2010

Tre’Von Willis scored 15 points as UNLV concluded its nonconference schedule with a 73-47 victory over Central Michigan at the Thomas & Mack Center.

The Rebels (12-2) open Mountain West Conference play at home against No. 16 Brigham Young (13-1) on Wednesday.

Justin Hawkins scored 13 points and Oscar Bellfield made three 3-pointers in the second half to finish with 11 points for UNLV.

The Chippewas (3-10) shot 1-for-7 from the field and had 11 turnovers in the first 11 minutes.

UNLV extended a 33-20 halftime lead to 50-33 on Bellfield’s 3 with 10:56 remaining.

Trey Zeigler scored 16 points to lead Central Michigan, which had 25 turnovers.

Tre’Von Willis scored 11 points and Derrick Jasper had seven to help UNLV to a 33-20 halftime lead over Central Michigan at the Thomas & Mack Center.

It’s the final nonconference game for the Rebels (11-2) before they open Mountain West Conference play at home against No. 16 Brigham Young on Wednesday.

Anthony Marshall’s dunk put UNLV up 11-3 with 14:37 left in the half. The Chippewas (3-9) shot 1-for-7 from the field and had 11 turnovers in the first 11 minutes.
