UNLV-New Mexico: Rebels grab first win of season, Hauck era with 45-10 thrashing

Rebels quarterback Omar Clayton completed 14 of 20 passes for 194 yards and three touchdowns. Michael Johnson caught all three TD passes becoming the first Rebels wide receiver to have that many in a game since Lenny Ware in 1996 at Hawaii. This was the first victory for first-year UNLV coach Bobby Hauck. The Rebels (1-3, 1-1 Mountain West Conference) host UNR next Saturday. New Mexico (0-4, 0-2) has lost 19 of 20 games.

UNLV quarterback Omar Clayton completed touchdown passes of 10 and 43 yards to wide receiver Michael Johnson, and the Rebels picked up their first rushing TDs of the season. One of those touchdowns was on a 46-yard run by freshman Tim Cornett. Clayton completed 10 of 13 passes for 124 yards in the half.
