Vegas still offering deals you can’t refuse

Anyone who’s still griping that "Vegas isn’t like it used to be," should shut their pie hole … at least until the economy recovers.

It can still be ridiculously cheap to visit Las Vegas and, unlike most things in life, Las Vegas is the same whether it costs you $1,000 or $100 to stay here.

I just got an e-mail from Matt Weatherford, proprietor of the Web site www.cheapovegas.com.

He’s coming into Las Vegas for the weekend and staying at the Four Queens downtown for $3.65 per night, tax included.
And this isn’t some special, insider deal Weatherford got because he runs an awesome Las Vegas Web site.

No, siree. He booked it through Expedia.com, and used a few tricks anyone can do. Expedia was offering a buy-two, get-one-free special. So he booked Wednesday and Thursday nights at $28 a pop. With the addition of Friday as the freebie, his per-night average dropped below $20 and the total for the stay was $56. But the deals didn’t stop.

There was another offer for $50 off a three-night stay, which dropped the price down to $6  — $10.96 with taxes and fees.

Divide by three and it works out to $3.65 per night.

That, my friends, is a slammin’ deal that not even Lefty Rosenthal could beat.
