Zebra mussel-infested boat kept from entering Lake Tahoe

Inspectors have prevented a boat with more than 40 adult nonnative zebra mussels from entering Lake Tahoe.

Tahoe Resource Conservation District officials said the invasive species was discovered around the boat’s engines on April 18 at the Meyers roadside inspection station near Tahoe’s south shore.

District spokesman Pete Brumis said the mussels were found during a training session for about 40 inspectors.
