LETTERS: Hotels, airport should help fund monorail

To the editor:

I can’t believe that the hotels have not figured out that helping to fund the extension of the Las Vegas Monorail to McCarran International Airport would be a win-win situation for them (“Monorail extension to airport remains elusive,” June 1 Review-Journal). There could be a hotel guest registration desk in the baggage claim area at either the hotel monorail station or the airport station, with a bell desk to assist if needed.

Most check-ins on busy weekends take a long time. Check out Disney World’s guest baggage system for its hotels. You check your bags at your local airport and in Orlando, Fla., and the bags are then delivered direct to your Disney World hotel room. You ride the shuttle without baggage, and you don’t have to drag your bag to your hotel room. What a concept, and it’s already being done in Orlando, Las Vegas’ biggest competitor.

The benefits: No long-haul taxi rides; no waiting at signal lights and no traffic delays; quick guest check-in with baggage already in the guest’s room upon arrival; and more time to gamble or use other resort facilities. It is time to think outside the box and create a better guest experience.
