Gov. Jim Gibbons, in a Dec. 31 press release, criticizing efforts of the state Commission on Tourism to attract tourists from Asia. The governor is in a squabble with the commission — chaired by his own Republican lieutenant governor, Brian Krolicki — over the commission’s refusal to forward to him the nomination of his chosen candidate to be their next executive director.

“The Chinese economy remains one of the more vibrant in the world. The more Asian tourists we can bring to fill our rooms, fill our dinner tables, see our shows … the quicker we will recover from our slowdown.”
