51s battered by Sidewinders
A day after posting a 23-2 blowout of Tucson, the 51s ran out of offense in a 12-1 loss to the Sidewinders on Wednesday in a Pacific Coast League game in Tucson, Ariz.
Las Vegas (28-25) started quickly, with Xavier Paul hitting an RBI triple in the first inning, but that was all the team would get.
Tucson (18-36) scored three runs in the second inning to take the lead and rolled from there, with starter Yusmeiro Petit allowing two hits in seven innings, with no walks and six strikeouts.
Tucson’s Tim Raines went 2-for-6 with three RBIs, including a two-run homer and an RBI triple. Robby Hammock was 4-for-5 with three RBIs, and Emilio Bonifacio went 4-for-5 with a triple and two RBIs.
Las Vegas allowed 17 hits, with Jon Meloan taking the loss after giving up six runs on six hits and five walks in 4 2/3 innings.
The teams will meet again tonight.
