Horse Racing: Today at Los Alamitos, December 4
Post Time 12:30 p.m.
Race 1 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $14,000, Claiming $8,000, Fillies and mares 3-year-olds and up
5 Adriatic Skye – To see Rafael Bejarano riding at Los Alamitos is a bit strange; while most top jocks passed on Fairplex, many ride here.
2 Full of Spice – Sliding down the claiming ladder to this bottom rung; has speed to sit a trip just off the early leaders.
Long Shot – 8 Shared Image
Race 2 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $17,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
8 L X Sunrise – With 6-of-9 seconds, her resume looks giant facing many slowpokes; ran races in Arcadia fast enough to beat these.
2 Cindys Secret – In a race this poor, often times the early lead is the best spot to be; can be a no passing zone affair.
Long Shot – 4 A B C Me Awesome
Race 3 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $42,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, 2-year-olds
5 Kluszewski – Among my favorite names for a racehorse; Ted Klu was one of Cincinnati’s best sluggers many generations ago.
7 Sam Slick – Ran willingly in debut right here at Los Al; was 30/1 that day and outran thst, will be a much shorter price tonight.
Long Shot – 8 Matty’s Tribal
Race 4 – 6 furlongs, Purse $17,000, Claiming $16,000, 3-year-olds and up
3 Warren’s Wesley – Returned from a year layoff with a career best effort; if he just repeats that, he’ll have a puncher’s chance.
9 Hidden Zensation – Won’t see Kent Desormeaux much this meet, so Fernandeo Perez must do; he’s a good rider and this is a live horse.
Long Shot – 5 Znelle
Race 5 – 1 mile, Purse $21,000, Starter allowance $16,000, 3-year-olds and up
8 Street Serenade – If speed is holding than you need to use this guy; simple tactics of send for Tiago Pereira.
6 Persuasive Paul – Sat a dream trip in last to edge out to victory; has won twice on dirt so the transfer should work today.
Long Shot – 7 The Mad Hungarian
Race 6 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $42,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies, 2-year-olds
1 Callback – Did a classic pop and stop in career debut; faced much tougher in that race at Santa Anita, second time Bob Baffert.
6 Ben’s Duchess – One of many dangerous looking FTS; this one from the John Sadler barn has been opening eyes of some clockers.
Long Shot – 7 Glory
Race 7 – 1 mile, Purse $46,000, Optional claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds and up
3 Toledo Eddie – His best races going long have come on turf; he has won 6-of-10 on dirt so it is a surface he excels over.
6 Wrightwood – Dead late closer will see a lot of early speed in here; a rapid pace could set him up for a flourishing finish.
Long Shot – 10 Got Even
Race 8 – 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $19,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, Fillies, 2-year-olds
1 Victoria Falls – Typical green debut, very slow early but quick late; job will be easier if he just breaks with the field.
5 Go On Darling – FTS from the Bob Baffert barn; I like his MSW better than the maiden claimers, but this is a slowpoke field.
Long Shot – 6 Powerful Girl
Best Bet – 1 Victoria Falls (race 8)
Del Mar Sunday – Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 17/8/$50.00; Long Shots, 9/1/$20.80; Best Bet, 1/0/$0
Del Mar Final Totals – 246/63/$407.40; Long Shots, 125/20/$202.60; Best Bets, 15/2/$10.80
SIMULCAST PLAY OF THE DAY – #4 Perfect Freud (4/1) in race 9 at Aqueduct. For scoring purposes, we’ll make a hypothetical $2 win, place and show bet, $6 total. On Sunday, B Shanny won at Aqueduct paying $3.40 to win, $2.30 to place and $2.10 to show. Stats – 186/109/$989.60; Follow him on Twitter: @richeng4propick
